What Happened To This Dying Puppy On Christmas Eve Is Unforgettable

Last Christmas Eve, Deanna Jarvis of Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue experienced something she will never forget. This is the story of Nicolas, the puppy.

A tiny German Shepherd-Chow mix, barely alive, showed up at the Iowa rescue organization. It didn’t look good at all. “The vet said that Nicolas was hypothermic and needed to be on a heating pad. Instead I zipped him up in my sweatshirt and rocked him in a chair for three days,” Jarvis told us.

Deanna took the sweet, sick little puppy that she named Nicolas into her home. Nicolas had a broken jaw, so Deanna was hand-feeding him regularly with the help of her son, Marcus.

Finally, once Nicolas was healthy enough, Deanna looked for a forever home. Tom and Bea Johnson immediately stepped up. “We fell in love with him when we saw him,” Tom said.

Amazingly, one year later, Nicolas still remembers the woman who saved her life. The Thompsons promised to always keep Deanna in touch with Nicolas year after year. This photo says it all.

There’s still a small scar on Nicolas’ ear that will always remind the loving Thompsons of the miracle they helped make happen. From a puppy on the brink of imminent death to a loving forever home, it truly is a Christmas miracle.

Foster Mom Can’t Believe It When Dog Places Her 11 Puppies In Her Lap

Grayce was neglected in her previous home and needed a safe place to have her puppies. After about three weeks with her foster, Stevoni Wells Doyle, she became a mommy.

Still a little unsure as a new mom, the dog gently picked up and placed each of her 11 puppies in her foster mom’s lap. Perhaps it was a “thank you” for taking them in…

Dog Gets 35 Pounds Of Fur Cut Off After Being Locked In A Barn For Who Knows How Long

Some people noticed that the terminally ill neighbor’s dog was being neglected and asked a couple of groomers to help out. There was so much dirt and feces blocking the door of the barn stall where Lazarus was kept, it had to be shoveled out of the way before they could do anything.

Trapped in filth and his overgrown coat, Lazarus was in desperate need of help.

After finally being freed from the stall, the groomers started chopping off the excess fur–all 35 pounds of it.

Lazarus was very hesitant at first but seemed to calm down as he realized it was making him feel better.

Without all of that weight holding him down, everything seemed new. Even walking…

Being petted and feeling the love of a human’s touch was new to him, too. But he warmed up to the groomers with the help of some treats.

Lazarus was taken in by Big Fluffy Dog Rescue where he will be fostered until they feel he’s ready for a forever home. For now, he’s trying to get accustomed to his new life…

He was even hesitant when approaching a grilled steak but quickly realized it was a yummy treat.

I do have other pups (lots!) who use the yard, and since Laz wouldn't take smaller pieces from me, I couldn't risk any pieces being left in the yard. Lazarus is the sweetest dog, he just needs time to learn the ins and outs of being treated like a normal dog. Big Fluffy Dog Rescue is pleased with the progress so far and can’t wait for the day he gets his permanent home.

Shelter Builds Cozy Cottages So The Dogs Don’t Have To Live In Cages

Luvable Dog Rescue in Oregon has 55-acres of beautiful country land for the dogs, mostly pit bulls, to roam.

The land includes forest, meadows and hiking trails, but stashed away in the woods are tiny cottages for the dogs. They each have their own private cottage and outside space to run around.

The insides look as if they were built for humans as they include furniture, artwork and windows for nice views of the woods.

The cozy environments allow the staff to better understand how the dogs would behave in their potential forever homes.

Liesl Wilhardt, Executive Director of Luvable Dog Rescue, has always loved pit bulls and decided to turn that passion into a magical place to comfort strays.

It sure beats concrete and cages, right?

A recently built “pit bull palace” is home for the bigger dogs, and the organization plans to build a maternity ward in the near future.

The ultimate goal is to make their stay as comfortable and inviting as possible while better preparing them for a home environment. And I’d say they’ve done an incredible job of that so far!
