This nameless pup with no real family was chained up and forgotten about.

He was all alone…

Just the concrete to lie on.

The pup would bark and cry for help…

Thankfully, the neighbors took notice and called the cops. But nothing was being done.

So they jumped the fence and saved the dog. They named him Alfie. And this is his new dad. 

No more concrete. Just wide open spaces to be free and happy.

No chains, no muzzles, no restrictions.

And of course Alfie needed some toys!

His new family came with a sibling. Aww! 

Alfie got to do things with his new family that he never knew.

He got to play like a normal dog.

Love, freedom and happiness. No dog deserves less.

A tiny German Shepherd-Chow mix, barely alive, showed up at the Iowa rescue organization. It didn’t look good at all. “The vet said that Nicolas was hypothermic and needed to be on a heating pad. Instead I zipped him up in my sweatshirt and rocked him in a chair for three days,” Jarvis told us.

Deanna took the sweet, sick little puppy that she named Nicolas into her home. Nicolas had a broken jaw, so Deanna was hand-feeding him regularly with the help of her son, Marcus.

Finally, once Nicolas was healthy enough, Deanna looked for a forever home. Tom and Bea Johnson immediately stepped up. “We fell in love with him when we saw him,” Tom said.

Amazingly, one year later, Nicolas still remembers the woman who saved her life. The Thompsons promised to always keep Deanna in touch with Nicolas year after year. This photo says it all.

There’s still a small scar on Nicolas’ ear that will always remind the loving Thompsons of the miracle they helped make happen. From a puppy on the brink of imminent death to a loving forever home, it truly is a Christmas miracle.

Rescuers safely loaded Curtis into the van and rushed him to Cypress Lake Animal Hospital.

***Note: the following images of the wound are not for people with weak stomachs.

They treated his wound and immediately prepped him for surgery.

Curtis was so exhausted that he fell asleep on his own as they started working on him.

When they sprayed the wound, thousands of maggots appeared indicating he was left like this for days.

The bullet entered behind his shoulder, narrowly missing his heart.

The bullet came out through the back of his head.

He was treated for the bullet wounds, a broken shoulder and heartworms. Curtis is tired, but continues to fight.

Curtis is expected to make a full recovery and eventually be put up for adoption so he can find a loving forever home.

There are some terrible people out there, but there are also lots of amazing people — like the veterinary staff that saved Curtis’ life.

It’s suspected she wasn’t adopted because of certain stereotypes associated with dogs like her with big, blocky heads. Being the sweet girl she is, the shelter came up with an amazing idea: to have Lupine act as an “ambassador” and go around to schools and events to show that dogs of her type can be just as loving as any other breed.

The best part? Lupine will get to live with the shelter’s education director and have constant enrichment from people and other dogs to help her be successful!

Sinbad was rescued by the Anti-Cruelty Society after growing out five pounds of fur.

The cat was described as “dragging a carpet” by the people who alerted the rescue. And you can see why…

It took hours for shelter workers to shave off all of the matted fur, but the cat stayed cooperative as if he knew it was for the better.

The muscles in Sinbad’s back legs atrophied due to lack of use, but he continued to fight.

Sinbad is now free from the mess of matted fur and living with a foster. With his new diet, the cat will eventually gain some weight and grow back his coat.

It’s a good thing he was rescued when he was — he had to have been so uncomfortable. But Sinbad will never know that neglect again.

Sinbad is on his way to the life he’s always deserved thanks to the hard work of the Anti-Cruelty Society. Share this with your friends.

Someone was walking home when they spotted the kittens, and he immediately called the Homeless Animal Adoption League. He knew they would soon freeze to death if they didn’t get help.

The cat was doing its best to protect the abandoned kittens and even looked up at rescuers as if to say “thank you.” They covered the bin with a blanket and took them back to the shelter.

All of the cats were healthy and able to eat on their own. Initially they thought there were only four kittens but were surprised to find out there were actually six. But that wasn’t the only surprise…

The cat assumed to be their mother was actually a boy! It’s unclear if the cat was their dad, brother, or just another cat, but he acted as a surrogate mother and protected the kittens the best he could.

So the shelter named him Mrs. Doubtfire. They will all be put up for adoption soon and finally get the loving homes they deserve!

What a great story! Wherever the cat came from, he made it his mission to make sure those little kittens would never be alone again. Share with your friends.
